BlizzCon 2026 started off very strongly with announcements for almost all their genres. During Opening Night we got a sneak peek at what is coming next, before later panels went into deeper dives for specific games.
The Void Creeps Into The Nexus
Starting off with a new Hero for Heroes of the Storm, the first one to release since Hogger, on December 1st, 2020. The void will be taking over The Nexus with another World of Warcraft-themed Hero in the form of Xal'Atath, officially releasing on September 28th, 2026.
The galaxy is harsh, and unforgiving!
Moving on to a change in genre (RTS to FPS), the already semi-leaked open world shooter in the StarCraft universe officially got announced with a trailer stating 2030.
It seems you need a hand.
Another enemy to team up with Doomfist in Overwatch got a nice trailer as well. Freed from a prison where Ana left him a long, long time ago, Doctrine probably wreaks revenge. Roadhog and Sombra are getting big reworks, where the latter turns from a DPS to a healer!

Sanctuary Falls and Burns!
Besides some more interesting information about Diablo 4's next season; Hell's Legacy, where we will see all three prime evils back in action: Mephisto: Lord of Hatred, Baal: Lord of Destruction and the big man himself, Diablo: Lord of Terror. We also got some interesting insight into a new class, the Amazon, coming in 2017. But it was really two other massive announcements, Hell's Legacy, where we will see all three prime evils back in action: Mephisto, Lord of Hatred, Baal, Lord of Destruction, and the big man himself, Diablo, cementing Diablo's role that took a lot of spotlight.
First, in collaboration with Netflix, an animated Diablo series is already in production. Second, a dangerous and scary timeline. No more safety in towns and cities, when Sanctuary falls and burns in 2029, with the release of Diablo V.

Aberrations from the Black Empire
For Heathstone, the next expansion has been showcased. With a new minion type (Aberrations), a new keyword (Assemble), and of course, hundreds of new cards.
Assembly is particularly interesting, as it lets you combine two cards into one stronger one, most likely breaking every build in existence. But let's add to that chaos, because we are also getting 2v2 Hearthstone, just so you can blame someone else for you losing so often!

Midnight is not dark enough, so we get Eclipse.
The next patch for World of Warcraft: Midnight is titled Eclipse, and we will be going to The Worldcore where Xal'Atath will meet her last moments and get beaten straight into The Nexus (see what I did there?).
We will also be getting a new dungeon, a new Mythic plus rotation, new Delves and Nemesis, a new Zone, a new Lair, and much more besides the new 8-boss raid!
The Last Titan Teaser
Sadly, Blizzard did not want to go into too much detail about the next expansion for World of Warcraft and the last of the World Soul Saga trilogy: The Last Titan. Mainly because this will reveal spoilers for World of Warcraft: Midnight: Eclipse, and they are trying hard to prevent that. We did get some minor information about the expansion coming to retail WoW in 2027. Mainly, an AWESOME teaser trailer showing us a big, BIG problem... (I bet Mimiron has something to do with this one!)
Back to the Past, with Warcraft III
After the enormous success of Warcraft III: Reforged, and more than 20 years after the last expansion for Warcraft III, The Frozen Throne, we are actually getting a new expansion! Warcraft III: Forsaken Kingdom will take us through the story of how Lordaeron became The Undercity.

Forever, and ever, and ever...
Probably the biggest announcement for World of Warcraft, and also for the entirety of BlizzCon 2026, is the new World of Warcraft: Forever. This is Blizzard's version of Classic Plus, where you will get both old and new content. New zones, new dungeons, new raids, new talents, and even a new race have already been announced.
World of Warcraft: Forever is not something for the far future. It's already here. The beta goes live on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, just mere days after BlizzCon 2026. And it is even scheduled to release on November 4th, 2026.
