World of Warcraft: Forever Guide - Release Features, Dungeons, and New Zones

Discover everything announced for World of Warcraft: Forever, including brand-new zones, nine dungeons, custom campsites, and a fresh Era where your gear and progress stay with you forever.

World of Warcraft: Forever Guide - Release Features, Dungeons, and New Zones

During BlizzCon 2026, an entirely new Era for World of Warcraft was announced. The speculation and leaks about Classic Plus have been keeping most of us up for the last few weeks, if not months, but this seems to be bigger and better: Forever!

The aptly named World of Warcraft: Forever is meant to be your forever home, where you do not need to level or replace your epic gear with every new patch. You are meant to enjoy and relax: Forever!

The original World of Warcraft cinematic, from what feels like a lifetime ago, has gotten a lovely new version. A longer one, but a familiar one! The return of the Dwarven Hunter with his trustworthy Bear companion is back, and they are here to stay: Forever!

New content, and old.

In addition to old content, new content will be added right from the start. On release, we are already getting new zones, new dungeons, new raids, new talents, and much, much more to keep us satisfied: Forever!

Four new zones

  • Mount Hyjal: Destroyed during the Battle for Mount Hyjal against Archimond, you will help restore the land to its former glory.
  • Shen'Dralar: Hidden between Mulgore and Desolace lies a land that kept secrets about the Centaur Clans: The Kolkar, the Magram, the Gelkis and the Maraudine.
  • The Riverglades: A long streched land on the east coast of The Eastern Kingdoms with over 150 new quests.
  • Zephras Isle: Home to the new playable Skyborne race, an offspring to the exiled High Elves. Choose to join the Horde or the Alliance and pursue arcane legacies of your ancestors.

Each of these zones has been speculated over the last twenty years of World of Warcraft, as they always have had their place on the world map of either the Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor. But they are getting their well-deserved screen time, after what felt like: Forever!

Nine New Dungeons and Two New Raids:

  • Halls of Thanes (levels 13-18)
  • Ruins of Lordaeron (levels 15-20)
  • Excavation Site (levels 24-29)
  • City of Dalaran (levels 28-33)
  • The Drowned City (levels 35-40)
  • Krol'Dok Stronghold (levels 40-45)
  • Alcaz Island Prison (levels 48-53)
  • Blackmaw Hold (levels 55-60)
  • Shaper's Terrace (levels 58-60)
  • The Barrow Deeps (10 player raid)
  • Hyjal Summit (20 player raid)

Sadly, not much is known about these dungeons and raids yet. Several we can speculate about a lot since they are either near clones from Retail from later expansions or have been referenced in the lore for an eternity (sorry, I meant, since forever!)

Tradeskills and Campsites

Wouldn't it be amazing if you could take a moment, set up camp, sit down and just enjoy the campfire, especially if it gives you helpful buffs! That is what Blizzard thought, so, so many years ago during the first World of Warcraft Alpha. Sadly, campsites never made it to the full game, but they do now!

All players can craft a campsite anywhere in the open world. You can spend some time working on your tradeskills and even give yourself a buff based on your chose tradeskill. But it gets further! Other players can join you and get the buff as well, but they can also use their chosen tradeskills to add a buff for all campsite participants. Each profession is supposed to give a unique buff that will help you fight your next battle or complete your next quest!

Just promise, as it is still called World of WARcraft, you will not just be relaxing at your campsite: Forever!

So... Much... More...

The amount of information we received during BlizzCon 2026 was endless. changes to talents, like how class buffs are now baseline, and those talents have been replaced by more useful, new talents. Information about Combat and Itemization, as well as the new reward system for doing what looks like achievements, but with actual, useful extra rewards.

And then there was information about transmog and graphic updates, both of which can be turned OFF by the player. So if you do not want to see other people's transmog, you will not have to! Do you prefer the old animations and models? You can just toggle a setting to use those instead of the newer ones!

Information kept coming during this way-too-short BlizzCon, and there is too much to go into a single article, so for more information, check out the World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap article from Blizzard Entertainment itself below. Frankly, I just can not keep these puns up... Forever.
