Enjoy a Year of InZOI

One year in, inZOI has officially disrupted the life sim genre with its record-breaking launch and breathtaking Unreal Engine 5 realism.

Enjoy a Year of InZOI

On March 28, 2025, the life simulation game inZOI, developed by Krafton, was officially launched into Early Access on Steam, PC. In a genre long dominated by The Sims franchise, inZOI became hot news, as a major new contender attempting to redefine what a modern life simulation could be, was officially launched into early access.

Now approaching its first anniversary in March 2026, the game has already experienced an eventful year filled with milestones, partnerships, community engagement, and ongoing development. Despite the challenges of Early Access development, inZOI has achieved several impressive accomplishments that demonstrates both its potential and its growing influence in the life simulation genre.

Within just a week of entering Early Access, the game sold over one million copies, making it the fastest selling title ever published by Krafton at the time. The launch created such a significant visibility on digital platforms reaching #1 on Steam’s Global Top Wishlists before release surpassing titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Elden Ring Nightreign. inZOI climbed to the #1 slot within 40 minutes of launch with a recording of more than 87,000 concurrent players on Steam. The game also attracted 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, placing it among the top streamed titles at launch. For a brand new candidate  in the life simulation genre, these numbers marked an impressive debut and demonstrated strong global interest.

Another achievement for inZOI is  its technological ambition. The game was built using Unreal Engine 5, which enabled realistic lighting, detailed character models, and a large open world environment which is rarely ever seen in the life simulation genre.

Unlike many earlier life simulators that relied on loading screens, inZOI introduced a seamless city simulation, where the entire city operates simultaneously. Players are able to manage their characters, guiding their daily lives within a dynamic environment. The game’s visual realism and large scale simulation quickly became one of its  defining features, distinguishing it from existing titles in the genre.

InZOI’s success during its first year came from its active player community. The game launched with Canvas, a platform allowing players to share custom content and creations. On the launch day, over 1.2 million players were recorded to have interacted with the Canvas platform with more than 470,000 pieces of user generated content uploaded. This strong engagement highlights one of the key elements of life simulation games, player creativity and interaction. The developers recognized that interaction with players was a key component in inZOI’s success and had launched many initiatives throughout the development cycle, both before and after inZOI was launched into Early Access. Initiatives like “Kjuns-Concern”, “Kjuns-letter”, “Brainstorm-with-kjun” and other Q & A sessions on their official Discord channel allowed players to have their voices be heard by the director of inZOI Studios and the developers, where some of their ideas even made its debut into the game itself. The developers were keen to take all suggestions and used these mediums as a way to keep players engaged and informed of the game’s direction in its development.

Another noteworthy milestone during inZOI’s early development is the collaboration with technology companies like Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Hyundai Motor Company. These collaborations featured the company's products and technologies  inside the game’s environments, demonstrating how inZOI blends real world design with virtual simulation. InZOI Studio also attended Gamescom 2024 and Gamescom 2025, where  the developers also showcased the game through an interactive booth where attendees could try a playable demo of the base game (2024) and a demo of their very first free DLC (2025). Participants even received custom badges and gift items featuring avatars created in the game. Such marketing efforts have proven highly beneficial for the developers, helping to build excitement and garner attention for the game.

Perhaps the most important achievement of inZOI’s first year is the renewed attention it has brought to the life simulation genre. For many years, The Sims franchise held near complete dominance in this field. The emergence of inZOI has shown that there is still a strong interest in new ideas and for simulation games. As inZOI approaches its first anniversary, the game stands at an important point in its development journey. Like many Early Access titles, inZOI continues to evolve, new updates, platform releases, and gameplay systems are expected to expand the experience further in the coming years. If the past year has proven anything, it's definitely that inZOI has a promising foundation where it will only continue to get better.
