CurseForge August Newsletter - 300K Minecraft mods, PUBG is in!

Welcome to the CurseForge Newsletter for August 2026!

August was one of those months where a lot of things landed at once. A milestone that's been years in the making, a brand new game joining the platform, a contest wrapping up, and a couple of app updates that genuinely change how things work. Here's everything.

Our main topics of the month:

  1. We hit 300,000 Minecraft mods
  2. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is officially on CurseForge
  3. WoW Addon Trials: The results are in

We hit 300,000 Minecraft mods

Three hundred thousand mods for one game. That number still doesn't fully land when you say it out loud.

It represents years of creators who kept building long after they could have moved on: modders who started in beta and are still shipping updates today, newcomers who found CurseForge last month and already have a first project uploaded, and everyone in between. Three hundred thousand is a lot of people putting in a lot of work over a very long time.

To mark it, we put together a video featuring fifteen of the most iconic mods that shaped Minecraft and the community that grew around it. If you've played with mods for a few years, most of them will be familiar. If you're newer to it, this is a good entry point into how modding became what it is today. We also published a collection with some of the highlights.

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is on CurseForge

Big news: CurseForge and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS have officially partnered, and the game is now live on the platform for uploading and downloading mods.

Through the new PUBG: Playgrounds feature, creators can now build original modes for the game and share them directly on CurseForge. PUBG now has its own dedicated home on the platform, and to kick things off, there's an official launch contest!

The launch contest has $95,000 in prizes across three categories, with 46 winners in total. Submissions close September 2. Mid-contest winners have already been announced - head to our Discord to see who made the first cut.

WoW Addon Trials: The results are in

The World of Warcraft Addon Trials contest has wrapped up, with $8,100 in prizes going to community-voted winners.

These contests exist because addon authors put real hours into making WoW better for everyone who plays it, and it's good to see that work recognized. The community voted, the winners were decided, and a solid batch of addons got the spotlight they deserved. If you want to see what came out on top, the results are live on the blog.

Congratulations to all the winners!

New in the CurseForge app

Filter before you install (Client 1.317): You can now filter and sort the Content tab of any modpack before you commit to an install. See exactly what's included, check what you actually want, and skip the mods you don't. The download manager also now shows your progress as an actual number: how many MB you've downloaded versus the full size of the pack, so you always know exactly where you are.

CF Legends badges on author profiles (Client 1.316): Legends-tier badges now appear on author profiles in the app, not just on the website. If you've earned a tier, it's visible everywhere your profile appears.
