Minecraft Vault Hunters Modpack - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Vault Hunters modpack?

Vault Hunters is a modpack that transforms Minecraft into an action-RPG (ARPG) experience. Players mine resources like Chromatic Iron and Vault Stone in the overworld to craft a "vault rock", which opens a portal to a randomly generated dungeon. Inside these vaults, the player must complete an objective and gather valuable loot within a time limit. The core progression loop involves using the acquired experience and materials to level up, unlock powerful skills and abilities, and research items from other integrated mods (such as Mekanism or Refined Storage) to get better gear and run more vaults.

Is Vault Hunters a good modpack?

Vault Hunters is an excellent modpack for players who enjoy RPG mechanics, dungeon crawling, and progression. It features unique gameplay, is very customizable, and offers extensive content that can easily accumulate hundreds of hours.

How to level up in Minecraft Vault Hunters?

You level up by earning "vault experience" (XP) primarily from running vaults, completing vault objectives, and collecting loot. Note that this XP differs from regular Minecraft experience points.

How to get skill points in Minecraft Vault Hunters?

You get new skill points each time you level up your character with vault experience. You can then spend these points in the special skill system menu to unlock new abilities and talents.

How to find a vault in Minecraft Vault Hunters?

To find a vault, you need to gather specific progression resources found while playing the normal Minecraft mode (like Chromatic Iron and Vault Stone, found deeper in the overworld) to craft a "vault rock". You can then use this rock on a Vault Portal to open a temporary portal leading to the vault dimension.

Does Vault Hunters have a final boss?

Yes, the final boss of the Vault Hunters modpack is called Eyesore, the Vault Warden. It is a giant, floating, one-eyed mob that is highly resistant to attacks on its skin, but can be damaged by hitting the eye directly. You must collect 25 unique artifacts to reach this boss. You can enter the Final Vault after collecting every artifact to light up all four Vault God Eyes using “Vault God Essence”. This will teleport you straight to Eyesore, so be prepared to fight back!

What is the deadliest SMP?

The Life Steal SMP created by Iskall85 is widely considered to be the deadliest SMP out there. It’s a private, whitelisted modded Minecraft server specifically designed for the Vault Hunters modpack where streamers are invited to play the modpack together. Its reputation as the deadliest SMP server comes from its unforgiving mechanics where if a player is killed by another player, the killer steals one of the victim's hearts and adds it to their own maximum health pool. This creates a high-stakes environment as players who die often grow progressively weaker, making them easier targets for others. Once a player reaches zero hearts, they are eliminated from the game (usually a temporary ban from the server).

How much RAM do I need for Vault Hunters?

For a smooth single-player or multiplayer experience, you should allocate at least 8 GB (8192 MB) of RAM to Minecraft. While the modpack might run on less, allocating more RAM helps prevent performance issues. You can check out the recommended specifications on the official Vault Hunters website.
