Frogs are small, adorable, and surprisingly valuable. Looking for a frog? Easy. Looking for all the frogs? That's where things get more complicated. With 25 different combinations to collect, a little knowledge goes a long way.
If you're trying to complete the Base Game Frog Collection, here's everything you need to find, breed, and collect all 25 frogs.
Finding Frogs
Frogs can be found all over the Base Game worlds, and luckily, your Sim doesn't need any special skill to catch them. Keep an eye out for Frog Logs, Ponds, and Water Pumps as you explore.
Frog Logs
Frog Logs are one of the easiest ways to find frogs. Click the log and choose Search for Frogs. Your Sim will pull out a frog, although you won't know which one until they find it. Logs guarantee a frog when searched, and the log is then used up and disappears.
Ponds
Ponds are another good place to search for frogs. Click a pond and choose Search to see what your Sim can find. Ponds can also be useful when you're already out fishing, gardening, or exploring, making them an easy way to add a few frogs to your collection without making a special trip. Your Sim may not always find a frog at a pond, so you may need to try again.
Water Pumps
Water Pumps can also provide frogs when searched. They're easy to overlook, so don't ignore them when you're exploring a neighborhood. Water pumps guarantee a frog when searched, but have a cooldown before they can be searched again.
You don't need to stick to one neighborhood, either. If you're trying to find specific frogs, search different locations and check back later for more frogs.
The good news? You don't actually have to find all 25 frogs individually. That's where breeding comes in.
How Frog Breeding Works
Every frog has two characteristics: type and pattern. There are 5 types of frogs and 5 patterns.
Types:
- Leaf
- Dirt
- Eggplant
- Heart
- Sunflower
Patterns:
- None
- Striped
- Spotted
- Surfer
- Whirl
These combine to create the 25 frogs in the Base Game collection.
When you breed two frogs, the offspring can inherit the type from one parent and the pattern from the other. So if you're hunting for a specific frog, you don't necessarily need to find that exact frog in the wild. You need frogs with the type and pattern you're looking for.
How To Breed Frogs
To breed frogs:
- Put at least two frogs in your Sim's inventory.
- Select one frog.
- Choose Breed Frog With...
- Select the second frog.
The offspring can inherit either parent's type and either parent's pattern.
For example, if you breed an Eggplant Frog with no pattern with a Spotted Leaf Frog, the four possible combinations are: Eggplant Frog with no pattern, Spotted Eggplant Frog, Leaf Frog with no pattern, or Spotted Leaf Frog.
So if you're looking for a Spotted Eggplant Frog, you've got a chance of getting it from this pairing.
A few frogs have names that don't exactly spell out the patterns, but don't let those names throw you off. The chart below shows all 25 Base Game frogs, including their type, pattern, rarity, and value.
Breeding Cooldown
Once your Sim breeds a pair of frogs, there's a 4-hour cooldown before they can breed frogs again. If you're working your way through the collection, don't worry if the option isn't immediately available. Give your Sim a little time before trying again.
Completing the Frog Collection
Once you've found a few frogs and you're breeding them as needed, you'll be on your way to filling in the gaps. Remember, instead of searching endlessly for a particular frog, focus on the type and pattern you're missing and choose your breeding pairs accordingly.
And remember to keep your frogs! Even if you already have a frog in your collection, a duplicate may have exactly the type or pattern you need to create another frog.
Keeping Your Best Frogs
If you're serious about completing the collection, it's worth setting aside a small space for your frog breeding operation. A storage chest can keep your collection organized and make it easier to find the frogs you need when it's time to breed.
Keep duplicates with useful types or patterns, and don't sell your rare frogs until you're finished. They may be worth some extra Simoleons, but they can be much more valuable as breeding stock.

Frogs can also be displayed as décor in a cute little terrarium, where they provide +3 Environment.
Additional Frog Content From DLC
Life & Death
Found in Ravenwood with Life & Death, the Death Frog is a unique collectible and recipe ingredient. Unlike the Base Game frogs, it cannot be bred, so you'll need to find one rather than producing it through your frog-breeding operation. It can be used to bargain with the Grim Reaper to save a dying Sim and as an ingredient in Boiling Death Frog Hot Pot, which temporarily turns a living Sim into a ghost.
Royalty & Legacy
Royalty & Legacy also introduces Noble Frogs, which Sims can kiss as part of the pack's storybook Powershifts. A Noble Frog may transform into a Noble Sim, but these frogs are not part of the Frog Collection, so they don't add another entry to your collection checklist.
Enchanted by Nature
Frogs can also turn up while your Sim is Foraging in Enchanted by Nature. The pack doesn't add any new frogs to the Frog Collection, but it does give you another way to find these little amphibians while exploring Innisgreen.
