What Is a JourneyMap?
JourneyMap is a widely used Minecraft mod that enhances exploration by adding a real-time minimap and full-screen world map. Does JourneyMap Cause Lag?
JourneyMap is optimized to run smoothly on most systems, but like any mod with real-time rendering and data tracking, it can use additional resources, especially on lower-end PCs or when used with large modpacks. To minimize performance issues, you can adjust render delay, disable certain features like high display quality or cave mapping, or untick some options in the preset you're using.
Does JourneyMap Have a Minimap?
Yes, JourneyMap includes a fully customizable minimap that appears in the corner of your screen. You can change its size, shape, zoom level, and what it displays, such as mobs, players, biomes, pets, villagers, or waypoints. There are also plenty of other minimap configurable options, including grid overlays, coordinates, time of day display, and more.
Does JourneyMap Have Waypoints?
Yes, JourneyMap allows you to set color-coded waypoints to mark important locations like your base, villages, or cave entrances. You can even enable waypoint beacons that appear in-game to help guide you back to those spots. Each dimension (like the Overworld, Nether, and End) has its own separate set of waypoints, so your markers stay organized and relevant to where you are. There’s also a built-in Waypoint Manager (accessed with N) where you can view all your waypoints, toggle them on or off, edit details, or remove them easily.
Does JourneyMap Need to Be on the Server?
There are additional features that you can access if JourneyMap is installed on the server. Server admins can control many of these features, and if it’s on the server, it does not force clients to have the mod installed.
