Terralith Mod - Frequently Asked Questions

Is Terralith on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt?

Terralith is available on all modloaders, including Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt! You can download Terralith from CurseForge, supporting Minecraft versions 1.17 through 1.21.x. The mod is primarily a datapack, and as such works seamlessly on any modloader or even vanilla. However, it is suggested to use the version packaged as a mod for your specific modloader because it is easier to install and share with friends.

Can you add Terralith to an existing world?

No, you cannot add Terralith to an existing world. Terralith modifies world generation at the fundamental level, so it must be installed before creating a new world. Adding it to existing worlds will cause chunk borders, terrain mismatches, and generation conflicts. You need to create a fresh world with Terralith enabled from the start.

Is Terralith compatible with Biomes O'Plenty?

Terralith is compatible with Biomes O' Plenty. However due to the way biome generation in Minecraft works, using them together can result in very small biomes. For the best experience, it's recommended to use either Terralith or Biomes O' Plenty, not both simultaneously. Too many world generation mods will also slow down Minecraft’s chunk generation system.

What does Terralith add?

Terralith adds over 95 new biomes to Minecraft, including realistic biomes like Yellowstone and Yosemite Cliffs, plus fantasy biomes like Moonlight Grove and Scarlet Mountains. It also features custom structures (Spires, Fortified Villages, Glacial Huts), new cave types (Underground Jungle, Frostfire Caves), and terrain features like volcanoes, arches, and floating islands. It does this using only vanilla blocks so unlike other biome mods your inventory remains uncluttered from fifty different wood types!

Is Terralith a mod or datapack?

Terralith is available as both a mod and a datapack. The mod version works with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt mod loaders, while the datapack version can be installed to vanilla Minecraft using the Datapacks button in the Create World screen. Both versions provide identical content, so choose based on your preferred installation method and mod setup.

Does Terralith work with Continents?

Yes, Terralith works perfectly with Continents. Both are made by Stardust Labs and designed to be compatible. Continents reshapes world generation to create separated landmasses with vast oceans, while Terralith adds its 95+ biomes to these continental landmasses. This combination creates incredibly diverse and realistic world generation with continental-scale exploration.

Does Alex’s Mobs work with Terralith?

Yes, Alex's Mobs works excellently with Terralith. Alex's Mobs has built-in compatibility that automatically integrates its creature spawns into Terralith's biomes. The mod's animals will spawn naturally in appropriate Terralith biomes, enhancing the exploration experience with diverse wildlife that fits each unique environment without requiring additional configuration.

Does Cobblemon work with Terralith?

Yes, Cobblemon works with Terralith. Cobblemon includes biome tags that recognize many Terralith biomes, allowing Pokémon to spawn in appropriate environments. Terralith biomes are categorized into Cobblemon's biome system (Sky, Thermal, Volcanic, etc.), ensuring Pokémon spawn correctly.

Does Geophilic work with Terralith?

Yes, Geophilic works with Terralith through the Terraphilic compatibility pack. This datapack merges the biome files of both mods, prioritizing Terralith features while maintaining Geophilic's enhancements. Terraphilic must load after both Terralith and Geophilic to work properly. Without this compatibility pack, conflicts may occur between the two world generation mods. You can also use Geophilic Reforged if you are using more biome mods, although it has a slightly different set of features.
