As Hytale is still in early-access, the RPG layer is still a long way to come. Meanwhile the modding scene has already built up an abundance of RPG supporting mods on CurseForge. This list walks through 10 of them to allow you to curate to your own interests and build your own RPG.
Leveling
When it comes to general progression and leveling, one can choose to keep it minimal or give it lots of spice.

RPG Leveling
For those who want a simple leveling mod that gets the job done, RPG Leveling is the go-to. This mod does exactly what it says it does: it introduces a leveling system inspired by RPG games into Hytale. It has a level system for both players and NPCs. Monsters have levels so that players can properly plan their path and experience, and player leveling encourages one to do all sorts of activities (fighting, mining, foraging, etc.) to level up, earn stat points, and improve their proficiency at various activities. It also introduces classes that allow players to play in their ideal playstyle.

Endless Leveling
On the other end, Endless Leveling goes over the top with its countless features and addons. It reaches far past a simple leveling mod with augments, dungeons, guilds, and more. It works with various other mods, including bosses and dungeons, that people can choose from and easily incorporate into their RPG experience. Those who want everything to be bundled together for a packed experience from the get-go will definitely enjoy the mod’s endless content.

MMO Skill Tree
Another mod related to leveling, but using a different leveling methodology, is the MMO Skill Tree. Rather than choosing to level up stats like the other two, you gain experience for a specific field based on what you are doing. You fight using a sword to get sword xp, you fish to get fishing xp, and the same logic goes for everything else. By leveling up these fields, you have a skill tree where you can choose what type of upgrades you want. You can choose stat bonuses or even complete abilities that you can use. Due to the nature of the leveling system, many users use it along with the other two leveling mods and have found great enjoyment in it.
Endgame/Dungeons
Hytale has its fair share of mods that help achieve the classic RPG endgame/gameplay loop.

Endgame & QoL
Endgame & QoL implements everything Hytale has to offer (unreleased content) with several enhancements and extras. It introduces 3 main bosses, each with their own instance, where elites and special rewards are available in each world. There are also arenas and other activities, such as bounties, that you can challenge yourself with. One notable award that goes hand in hand with the endgame experience is pets that you can level up. You can kill bosses to obtain a spawnable version of them and level/grow them up to use them in the future.

Major Dungeons
Another mod made for an entertaining endgame experience is Major Dungeons. This mod is the dungeon mod of Hytale with semi-custom bosses and amazing awards/collectibles. It has merchants that you can purchase from and special items and armors that you can obtain to aid future raids. Through successive playthroughs, you can unlock familiars and mounts to expand on your choices of gameplay.
Combat
Some notable combat mechanics seen in many RPGs are dodges, parries, and magic.

Perfect Parries
Perfect Parries introduces a parrying mechanic inspired by Sekiro, where if you time your block right before the opposing attack is going to hit you, it will nullify all damage at the cost of nothing and reflect some damage back. After each parry, you can counterattack for a greater amount of damage, and, with enough parries, the enemy gets stunned, allowing you to land a critical hit. Some attacks are heavier and can pierce through basic blocks, and these can only be fully countered via a perfectly timed guard bash.

Perfect Dodges
Perfect Dodges introduces a dodging mechanic that functions both as a dodge and a simple RPG dash. It is quite straightforward, as you simply sprint right before an attack hits you, and you will dodge it, whether it’s a twirl, flip, or roll. After dodging, you can also counterattack, although it will be weaker than one after a parry.

Hexcode
It’s not an RPG without some sort of Magic. Hexcode, a drawing-based magic implementation, completes the combat experience of an RPG. The idea behind it is similar to Arcanum, mentioned in the previous blog post, where magic begins with discovery. However, instead of setting it up in your CAD, you draw hexes and connect them to construct and cast your spell. With Hexcode, magic becomes a very active form of combat with a nice skill ceiling due to its incredible quantity of possibilities.
Itemization
Another neat progression to aim for is item enhancements. These are additional upgrades that you can obtain to aid your fights, which are constantly getting more and more difficult due to scaling systems introduced by the other mods.

Socket Reforge
Through Socket Reforge, your gear gains sockets that can be filled with essences for stat bonuses. This mod implements a luck-based strengthening system that strengthens your armory at the risk of a setback when luck isn’t on your side. When you fill every socket on an item, the sockets resonate, where your bonus effects span further than flat stat increases. For example, a mace with the Stormmaul resonance can trigger thunder strikes. There’s also a lore socket, where you socket a Spirit Gem (kind of like a kill tracker), and you kill NPCs holding such lore to enhance your weapon. This 3 layer socket system provides lots of progression material to grind towards in your RPG.

Simple Enchantments
A simpler form of gear upgrades is enchantments. Literally by its name, Simple Enchantments adds a variety of scrolls that can be used to upgrade your items. There are enchantments for weapons, tools, and armor, and other mods can have additional addons that contribute to their already large list of enchantments. Along with the Enchantment Table that allows you to write your scrolls, there is the Engraving Table that allows you to rename items and customize your enchantment glows.
Whether you want a lightweight leveling loop or a full endgame grind with crazy gear upgrades, the pieces are already on CurseForge waiting to be combined. There are several more additions that can contribute to the RPG experience, whether you are interested in fishing, farming, or other forms of gameplay. Browse them all on the CurseForge Hytale mods page and pack them up together however you’d like!
