How to Migrate WoW Forever Addons from Beta to Live (Quick Guide)

If you spent the WoW Forever Beta getting your addons just right, here’s how to bring that setup into the live game. All you need is to copy two folders, then check your addons and profiles before heading back into Azeroth.

Before you start

Make sure Forever (live) is installed, fully close World of Warcraft and the CurseForge app, and keep a backup of your beta folders.

Important: Migrate before installing addons or setting up your UI in Forever (live). Pasting these folders can overwrite matching addon files and saved settings. If you’ve already started, back up the live Interface and WTF folders before continuing.

How to migrate your addons to WoW Forever live

1. Open your Forever Beta folder

Open your World of Warcraft installation folder and find:

World of Warcraft\_classic_beta_

The location of your main World of Warcraft folder depends on where you installed the game.

2. Copy the Interface and WTF folders

Select both folders and choose Copy:

  • Interface contains your installed addons inside its AddOns subfolder.
  • WTF contains saved addon settings and profiles, along with other game settings.

Copying both brings over the addon files and their saved configuration. Keep the originals in your beta folder as a backup.

3. Open your Forever live folder

Return to your main World of Warcraft folder and open:

World of Warcraft\_forever_

This is the destination for your live addon setup.

4. Paste both folders

Paste Interface and WTF directly into _forever_.

The resulting paths should be:

World of Warcraft\_forever_\Interface
World of Warcraft\_forever_\WTF

If Windows asks to replace files, accepting will replace matching live files with your beta copies. Only proceed once you’ve backed up anything you want to keep.

Tip: In case the CurseForge app does not auto-recognize the addons, make sure to manually scan the addons folder.

Check your addons before playing

Open CurseForge, choose your Forever live installation, and check for addon updates. Then launch Forever (live), open the AddOns menu, and make sure the addons you want are enabled.

Once you’re in game, check your layout and addon profiles. Some addons may need you to select your previous profile in their settings.

Back to Azeroth

Once your addons are working and your profiles are in place, you’re ready to play. Keep an eye on updates in the CurseForge app as authors release new versions, or browse WoW addons on CurseForge if you want to add something to your setup.

Do I need to download my WoW Forever addons again?

No. Copying the Interface folder transfers the addon files you already have. Check for Forever-compatible updates afterward, since the versions you used in beta may need updating for live.

Will my addon settings transfer from beta to live?

Copying WTF brings over your saved settings and profiles. Some addons store settings by character or realm, so your live character may not automatically use the same setup. If the addon supports profiles, check whether you can select or copy your previous one in its settings.

What if I already installed addons in Forever live?

Back up your live Interface and WTF folders first. Copying the beta folders will override all current addons and settings, including newer addon versions and settings you’ve already changed. If you want to keep your current live setup, avoid a bulk overwrite and transfer individual addons or profiles instead.

Why are my addons missing after copying the folders?

Check that the addon folders are inside
World of Warcraft\_forever_\Interface\AddOns.

An extra nested folder, such as Interface\Interface, can leave them in the wrong location. Restart the live game completely, then check that the addons are enabled in the AddOns menu.

Will every beta addon work in WoW Forever live?

Compatibility depends on the addon and its version. Copying files does not update them. Check for a release that supports Forever, and disable any addon that continues to cause errors until a compatible update is available.
